Week 1 : IINTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Week 1 : IINTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Aishah An Nur Fitri binti Parman

On this first week, we were learn about the introduction of sustainable development. First of foremost, I want to share about the meaning of sustainable development. According to wikipedia, Sustainable development is the organizing principle for meeting human development goals while simultaneously sustaining the ability of natural systems to provide the natural resources and ecosystem services  on which the economy and society depend. The desired result is a state of society where living conditions and resources are used to continue to meet human needs without undermining the integrity and stability of the natural system. Sustainable development can be defined as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainability goals, such as the current UN-level Sustainable development goals, address the global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice.

Moreover, according to the youmatterworld, Sustainable development is the idea that human societies must live and meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The “official” definition of sustainable development was developed for the first time in the Brundland in 1987.

Since Im at my home during this MCO and not in the campus, I would like to share some program that I join to help the people in needs in my area. This program called 'Iftar for ummah' that has been conducted by MyFundaction.

This program really make me realize how much Allah swt has given me a lot of rezk. Therefore I should be thankful and grateful always.

As explain by Dr, we have 17 goals for sustainable development as stated bellow :

Among all these sustainable goals, I want to focus and do my reflection on SDG number 2, which Zero hunger'. It is because this goals is the most important one to survive. Therefore, how to achieve zero hunger ? According to World Food Program, there are five steps to achieve zero hunger,

  1. Put the furthest behind first
  1. Pave the road from farm to market
  1. Reduce food waste
  1. Encourage a sustainable variety of crops
  1. Make nutrition a priority, starting with a child's first 1000 days

As for me, the things that I will and already do to help in achieving zero hunger is joining a lot of charity program. It is because the program will go and deliver some important basic food such as rice, oil, flour and many more. Hence why it is important for us to join such a program.
Therefore, again I want to share my experience joining charity program at Tanjung Malim, Perak. It was a very lovely experience since I meet a lot of people and build my new friendship with students from different university. As stated in the Quran,

  • “This (is) Our gift, so grant or withhold without an account.” (Quran 38:39)
  • “O you who believe! Fear Allah and be with those who are truthful.” (Quran 9:119)
  • “Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant.” (Quran 7:199)
  • “Do not keep your hand fastened to your neck nor outspread it, altogether widespread, for you will be left sitting rebuked, destitute.” (Quran 17:29)
  • “You shall not attain righteousness until you spend out of what you love (in the way of Allah). Allah knows whatever you spend.” (Quran 3:92)
  • “Help one another in acts of piety and righteousness. And do not assist each other in acts of sinfulness and transgression. And be aware of Allah. Verily, Allah is severe in punishment.” (Quran 5:2)

That is it for me, see you at the next blog!👍👋
